March 2 LAG meeting/program

This meeting/program will be a critique of member’s art work by Jim McClelland. He is an accomplished local artist
and head of the art department at Union College. Please bring artwork/paintings you would like to have critiqued and/or a piece of art that you are working on for the ANAC show in April or the Spring show in May.

Pre-register your entries for the ANAC show:

Please consider registering your entries prior to delivering the artwork on April 1. The pre-registration form to enter the ANAC show is available in the March 2010 newsletter. Payment and mailing information is included on the form.



Attend the Critique Session March 2, 2010 from 7-9 pm:

Consider bringing the artwork you are working on for the ANAC show to the critique session on March 2, 2010. Jim McClelland, an accomplished local artist and head of the art department at Union College, will critique our work.



Preparing your artwork for the ANAC show:

  1. Work must be ready to hang; screw eyes and wires are required on flat pieces.
  2. No glass on works for ANAC shows except for pastels per State competition.
  3. Work must be dry.
  4. Unframed canvas may be hung if sides are painted.
  5. No class or privately supervised work.
  6. Work must be original. Copies of other artwork or from copyrighted photos are not eligible.
  7. No work may be removed from a show in progress. Work must be submitted and picked up at the specified times. Those failing to do so will incur a handling/storage change of $5.00 per piece for moving and storing the work. The Guild is not responsible for damage or loss when artwork is left behind.
  8. Art work can only be entered once in an ANAC Show.
  9. The show chair(s) have the right to refuse artwork that is not prepared for show properly.
  10. The judge’s decisions are final per juried shows.
 

Correction: The March 2010 newsletter indicated the LAG membership fees were due at the end of March. Please note that your LAG membership fees are due at the end of February. Members are being called as a reminder to renew their memberships.

This is a reminder for renewal of your LAG membership. If you can get your membership dues in during the week of March 1, we will include you on the list for ANAC. If you are not registered on the ANAC list, you will not be qualified to enter the ANAC preliminary juried competition in April or at the state level.

Formal election for officers for 2010. Be ready to vote and then we will enjoy our dinner. An informal critique will follow.

      Bring a dish and tableware (plates, forks, spoons) per person.
      Drinks, cups and napkins will be provided.
      Bring a piece of your artwork that you want help with.

Fall Lincoln Orchid Society Show

November 13-15, 2009

Admission*: $3.00 for adults; 14 & under FREE
*(Free admission for those who have entries in the show or help set-up/take-down.)

Invitation from the Lincoln Orchid Society:

Dear Artists and Photographers: Our society would like to invite you to participate in the “Art Entries – Orchid Related” competition of our show at no cost to you. Your participation in the show will provide you with FREE publicity for your art and an opportunity to compete for awards, plus display your artistic talent to the public.

  • Art Entries MUST BE Orchid Related
  • Entries must have been created by the exhibitor
  • Each person may submit up to three entries into each one of the following Classes (Groups)
    – 115. Paintings, Etchings, Charcoals, etc.
    – 116. Photographs
    – 117. Other arts and crafts featuring orchids including: Ceramics, China, Sculpture, Jewelry and Metal Art, Needlepoint, Tapestry, other than above.
  • Ribbons will be awarded. Judges decisions are final.

To Enter Competition:
Please bring entries for set-up Friday, November 13 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. An entry tag for each entry will need to be completed for each piece (see Julie L.). Food and refreshments at no cost are available to persons placing entry/entries in our show. TAKE DOWN will be Sunday after 5 p.m., closing. Please be there promptly to help.

Orchid Art Demonstration by Julie Lemons on Sat., Nov. 14th. Time yet to be determined.

Fall Juried Show in November

All entries must be picked up on Monday, November 30th before 3:00 P.M. Please make the proper arrangements for pickup.

A pre-registraion entry form has been attached to the bottom of the October 2009 newsletter.

Please fill out the pre-registration form and mail to Jan Spale with the registration fee before October 28th. This will save you a lot of time and confusion when you deliver your entries.

Registration can still be filled out on November 2nd. Please have the forms filled out and ready to go when you drop of your entries.
